-Attention All US Residents-In 2006 legislation that affects online gambling was pushed through the US Senate. The following 11 states are the ones primarily affected by this legislation: Illinois, South Dakota, Indiana, Washington, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregan. -Can Americans Gamble Online-Is it Legal? Since the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passes, many American citizens have been left wondering if they are allowed to play at an online casino, as so many other world citizens are free to do. Well on Friday 13 October 2006, President George W. Bush signed a law to deter terrorists from smuggling weapons into the United States inside shipping containers that enter the country from foreign ports each year. This is known as the Port Security Bill. Attached to the Port Security Bill was a seemingly unrelated provision - the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which may prohibit online gamblers resident in certain states in the USA from using credit cards, checks and electronic fund transfers to place and settle bets. The law seems to leave enforcement up to banks and various other U.S. financial institutions, some of which have tried to fight the legislation, though from an awkward stance considering the good intents of the original Bill. It is uncertain as to whether or not this Bill has made it illegal for an American player to enjoy playing at a Licensed, Audited, and Legal Online Casino? Certainly the attached amendment has not made it illegal for a casino to operate online. It has though, sadly made it so that less ethical casinos, devoid of Licensing or Accountability, are now targeting the American market unfairly. If you reside in one of the 11 banned states, than it is highly recommended that you DO NOT gamble online. Furthermore, it is to be stressed that this website is for information, entertainment, and marketing; as online gambling is perfectly legal (and taxable) in a great many countries around the world today. This website is not for Legal Counsel of any type. We can provide links that may help our American friends to be better informed and empowered, in the legal and political arena. -Wiki Links for American Players-SAFE Port Act :: Federal Wire Act Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act ~~~~~~~~~~ Please sign the petition to Repeal Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
